Nice & Provence

Charlie Heckstall-Smith has recently expanded the service he offers in France to include Nice and Provence. This has only been possible by joining forces with an old friend and property professional, Jewels Newton, who is based in the area, speaks fluent French and has 20 years experience in buying and renovating property in France. As a result, Jewels offers a wealth of experience from years of working within the French system: its legal procedures, local authorities, architects, specialist builders and contractors. This experience she now puts at the disposal of those looking to buy property in the region.

Provence is a perfect blend of three different types of wonderful landscapes. According to local legend, after God created the earth, the sun, mountains and the sea to shape our planet, the leftovers of each were used to create a paradise in Provence, the Côte d’Azur and the Alps.

The French Riviera. The Blue Coast, the Côte d’Azur stretches from Hyeres in the west to Menton in the east. The region is famed for miles and miles of stunning beaches, vibrant cities and towns.

Inland Provence: This is the heart of Provence with the hills that bind the sea to the Alps. A land of small medieval villages, vineyards and the colourful scenery that charmed famous artists like Van Gogh.

The Alps: With skiing only one hour from the sea, the Alps rise some 4000m above Nice on the coast. Clean pure air and a vast protected landscape; this is still Provence with the Alps of Haute Provence and the Hautes Alps. In the winter there is wonderful skiing and in the summer one can explore on horseback, on foot, by bike or car.
